Final Fantasy XLegendary Weapons

When you first obtain a legendary weapon, they are locked by magical powers and the only ability they have is 'No AP', To power up and unlock these weapons you must obtain 2 items. Each character has a certain Crest and Sigil that you must collect...after this process you must obtain the Celestial Mirror to power up each weapon. Below is Locations where you can obtain these weapons and the items needed to unlock their full power.

Tidus - Caladbolg

To acquire Tidus's legendary weapon, Caladbolg, you must reach the Calm Lands and defeat the Chocobo trainer in a race (You have the option to train first, which is recommended for new players). (Hint: collect the red balloons along the race as they decrease your time, but watch out for the birds as they increase your time) After winning the race, walk to the upper northwest section of the Calm Lands. The guard that was previously blocking the pathway down will have left his position, allowing you to pass. Tidus will then be able to use the Celestial Mirror to acquire the Caladbolg.
Power Up Items:
  • Sun Crest: Zanarkand Dome, where you fought Yunalesca
  • Sun Sigil: Race the chocobo trainer in Calm Lands and finish with a time of 0:0.0. (Get almost all of the Red Balloons)

Yuna - Nirvana

To acquire Yuna's legendary weapon, Nirvana, you must speak to the owner of the Monster Arena in the north-eastern cave of the Calm Lands, after purchasing new catching weapons, you must use them to catch/trap all nine species of fiends in the Calm Lands. After collecting them all, return to the monster arena owner, he will produce a treasure chest. You will now be able to use the Celestial Mirror to acquire the Nirvana. Power Up Items:
  • Moon Crest: Besaid Isle Beach
  • Moon Sigil: Defeat Every Aeon at Remiem Temple

Auron - Masamune

To acquire Auron's legendary weapon, Masamune, you must first acquire the Rusty Sword, found near the entrance to the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth in the Calm Lands. Take the Rusty Sword to the statue of Lord Mi'ihen on Mushroom Rock Road. Access to this area was previously prevented by Clasko, then place the Rusty Sword before the statue to reveal a glyph. Touch the glyph to reveal the Masamune's secret location, then use the Celestial Mirror to acquire the Masmune. Power Up Items:
  • Mars Crest: Mi'ihen Highroad
  • Mars Sigil: Capture 10 monsters of 10 different species in 10 different regions and return to the Monster Arena owner

Rikku - Godhand

To acquire Rikku's legendary weapon, Godhand, you must input the airship password Godhand to open a secret location at Mushroom Rock. Move north through the only path, to a symbol embedded in the rock, Use the Celestial Mirror to reveal a Chest. You will then be able to use the Celestial Mirror to acquire the Godhand. (Rikku's Weapon is the easiest to aqquire out of the party). Power Up Items:
  • Mercury Crest: In a sand whirlpool in Sanubia Desert
  • Mercury Sigil: Complete the Mini-game at the Village of the Cactuars and look for a treasure chest in the sandstorm area

Wakka - World Champion

To acquire Wakka's legendary weapon, World Champion, Go to the Luca Cafe and talk to the bartender, you must have played a few matches in Blitzball or else the bartender refuses to hand it over. If she refuses to turn it over, go play 2-3 matches of Blitzball, if You were successful, you will then be able to use the Celestial Mirror to acquire the World Champion. Power Up Items:
  • Jupiter Crest: Luca, inside the locker in the Besaid Auroch's locker room
  • Jupiter Sigil: Offered as one of the Major Prizes in Blitzball league matches, but only after Wakka has already won the Attack, Status, and Aurochs Reels.

Kimahri - Spirit Lance

To acquire Kimahri's legendary weapon, the Spirit Lance, you must activate three of the Cactuar stones on the Thunder Plains. To Activate them, stand at any stone and press the square button to see the spirit of the Cactuar released. After activating three stones (there are about 10 in total), find the Cactuar ghost flying just above the ground at the Southern part of the Thunder Plains. Follow it to a small, ruined lightning tower on the right side. Press the square button to send a bolt of lightning to the tower, revealing a treasure chest holding the item. Now You can use the Celestial Mirror to acquire the Spirit Lance. Power Up Items:
  • Saturn Crest: Mt. Gagazet, columns after the Battle with Seymour.
  • Saturn Sigil: Capture all the blue butterflies without touching any red ones (if you touch a red one, you must battle fiends) in the butterfly hunt game in Macalania Woods.

Lulu - Onion Knight

To acquire Lulu's legendary weapon, the Onion Knight, return to Baaj Temple, To Access this secret area, refer to Airship Passwords and dive underwater. Then swim towards the doors to the north and fight Geosganeo. After defeating Geosganeo, search the southern part of the circular underwater area and look for a treasure chest containing the weapon. You will then be able to use the Celestial Mirror to acquire the Onion Knight. Power Up Items:
  • Venus Crest: The Farplane of Guadosalam
  • Venus Sigil: Must evade the lightning bolts on the Thunder Plains 200 consecutive times without being hit. If You are hit once, the count restarts (Hint: A Good Method to Succeed is to stay close to the towers, run out dodge 10 bolts, run back in and save. Save often so if you do get hit, you only loose a few points) After completing this task return to the front of the Travel Agency and open the chest.
