Hazard and I just finished our talk and I sat down, cradling my head in my hands. My hair covering my face and hands. "I should've went in... Maybe he would be alive if they had some help... Instead I hid on the ceiling..." I whispered to myself. I couldn't lighten the mood anymore, not for me. The event finally hitting home... Moisture hit my hands. I wiped my cheeks, two droplets fell from my face at the open path to the ground.
I shouldn't beat myself up... I stayed up there to give them hope and to find the others. I'm not-
"Suck it up." the demon's voice cut through the air. Yet not with harshness. "If you do that to yourself, what would Awol's death count for? Nothing, that's what. We have to get out of this first. You can do your grieving later." I nodded in my hands. "About Seik. What's going on with that thing?"
"I don't know completely." I brushed my face clean and peeked up at Hazard leaning on the wall. "First thing first. Find Xenek and Eve. I have to protect them. I've got to find them."
"Then we can finally get out of here. If it works."
"If she's the controller." I agreed. "But all I know is that I am not taking this detour to Crimson to delay my time apart from Shinji. It'll work. Besides you said she twiddled with it when she stopped Seik. It will work."
We got on our guard as footsteps resonated outside the door. I jumped back onto the ceiling like a startled cat. A bearded guard opened the door saying, "We have food for you." I climbed out the door as a tray was led inside the room. No one outside the room I waited till the door closed again and the bearded guard and servant left the hallway saying, "Did they find the last two yet?"
The guard replied with, "Not yet. We have yet to check the North wing with our group. The others are in the dungeons."
North wing. No idea which way it is. But I don't care. I let them move on and once out of sight I dropped down. I ran the opposite way. I ran past an intersection, and kept going. A guard. His eye's widened as I jumped into the air.
I mustn't... My heel connected with his head. Knocking him to the ground. I kept going. I turned the corner. BAM! I bumped into another guard. We both fell to the floor. I springed up and decided to know which way to go. "Where is the North wing?" I growled.
"Right behind you." The voice is feminine. A girl? Yes. I can see the shape of her body. I turned to make sure.
"Yeah... this isn't good." There, right behind me, stood the small army that was searching for Eve and Xenek. In the lead stood Castor.
"I thought there was only two left?" One of them asked.
"So did I." Castor stared me down. I released the female guard I held and pushed her to the group. "Show him."
The guards parted a little and in bondage and in the arms of the guards lay Xenek and Eve. Four feet above the ground. Unconcious.
I'm too late. Something serious has to be in this group to take down Xenek and Eve. Castor kept his gaze at me as he patted the woman into the crowd. Something serious indeed. Him.
"So. Who are you?" His eyes seemingly cutting throw me. I held it.
"Just the last of the group you've taken captive." I replied.
"Ah. Well, how should we do this. You surrender or," he pulled on his skin tight gloves, "I take you in by force. I would much rather take you in myself, not have the guard take you in." He smiled.
"You. Take me in? Is that so?"
"Why yes. Your friends put up a challenge but, with some help we took them in. Without much harm done." He paused letting it sink. "So how would you like to go?"
"I would like to go, take my friends and leave. Without anymore violence."
"Too bad. That's not an option."
"Thought so. I'm going for my friends then. Try and stop me." I tempted.
"Just how I like it."
I stepped forward. As did he. We walked towards each other. The guards eyeing me with their weapons. We got face to face. Staring each other down. Neither me or him backed down. He swinged. I leaned back and moved right in. Countering with a swing of my own. He blocked that and punched for my stomache. Ice formed there to shield it, as I brought my elbow down to his head. I heard shattering. My lungs tightened as air bellowed out my mouth. My elbow hitting his forhead.
I staggered back a couple steps.
He broke the ice... Who, what is he? He simply cracked his neck and grinned back at me. "Okay... So I was right." I quickly caught my breath and flexed my fingers. "But I'm not here to fight you."
I shot my hand at the wall, indenting it. Ice formed on it and spread forward, very quickly. He moved closer. Cautious not to fall. He went to kick me, I grabbed his foot. Twisting sharply, I heard a snapping sound. Then I used my elbow again. An ice blade extending from my elbow, it stabbed cleanly through his calf and shin bone, followed by another snapping from when my elbow snapped his shin. He groaned and yelled. I pushed him to the ground and rushed forward. "Move out of the way!" I yelled at the mini army.
None did. These soldiers are better trained. But not good enough. I got through the first line. Hardly hit and still pushing.
Clink. Suddenly I felt heavier as the sound occurred and something pushed me forward. I quickly glanced back: a guard with a pike fell to the floor, his pike bent. Something shimmered on my shoulder.
So that's what Dale meant when he said that it'll accustom itself to my gift. My ankle-length coat shimmered with ice. Flowing freely but with the hardness of my ice. And as I looked it went back to normal, not in my control at all. In the background, Castor snapping his leg. In that second of looking back I got to the siblings.
I pushed their bearers out of the way, one at a time. Catching the captives before they fall. I roundhoused the nearest guard and they flew back into the group. The downfall to having a large group of people fighting in a small space. I used it to my advantage. As one side fell to the floor, I picked up a down guard and tossed it to the other side. "Wake up." I shook Eve and Xenek once each. Nothing. I picked up Eve. Put her on one shoulder, and then Xenek on the other.
I'm not going to be able to sneak on with this. Or fight this group without killing most of them.
I stepped on some fallen and jumped over the last lines. I sprinted as fast I could with them on my shoulders. I skidded as I turned. I stopped in front of a door blocking my way. I looked at it and placed my foot on it. I froze the edges and reeled back my leg. I kicked it open with a shatter.
Stairs. Good. In front of me, a towering staircase. I picked down and made an ice board. I flew down the steps at a dangerous speed. The bottom getting closer. I jumped off before we reached bottom. The speed launching me into the wall. I landed against the wall. The impact pressure vibrating me to my bones. The extraweight brought me to the floor faster. I balanced Eve on my right shoulder and released my right hand. I turned the knob and opened the door. Dark, smelly... the Dungeon. I went ahead. A guard saw me and then went to get us. I kicked him and he landed in on the floor with a thud.
I had to deal with two more before I got to the cells. I put the two down gently and moved ahead. "Hey, guys." I said to no person in partiular, just letting them know I'm here.
"Ved? Ved!" I heard Stuzz. To my right.
"Bro. 'Bout freaking time." Vade. Straight ahead.
"Ved. Get us out." Deadra. Directly to my left.
"What's preventing you from getting out yourself?" I asked them all."
"Repulsive barrier." Simply stated by my brother.
"Ah.... Be right back." I turned around and looked at the walls. Finally seeing a panel in the far corner I went to it. I studied it. It has a number pad and four buttons, each with a faded pad next to it. The pads are written on. I pushed the one that had 'Unlock.' on it. Nothing happened. "Okay..." I thought. "Oh. Duh."
I went to each cell door. Each has a number on it. The numbers for the three cells: 1, 4, and 7. The others are empty at the moment. I went back to the panel and pushed '1'. The sound of a door unlocking echoed. I pushed '4'. Nothing. I hit 'Unlock' again and then pushed '4'. Unlocked. I repeated the steps with 7. Now for the field. I pushed the button that had 'Shield On/Off'. The sound of a generator shutting off followed.
I went to the doors and opened 1, 4, and 7. Stuzz walked out, eyes red. He's been crying. "Thanks."
I opened Deadra's door as Stuzz got Vade's. Deadra walked out with a woman leaned against her. "Lyria." I said.
"How did you-"
"Hazard told me. No time. Gotta go." I cut Deadra short. "Hazard's upstairs. Top floor. We gotta get him out."
Someone chuckled. Vade spun around and struck a guard in his bald head. Crackle of electricty with the bang of his skull. "Told him I'll kill him. Besides he was awake."
"Okay. Well can you get Xenek. Stuzz, can you carry Eve?" I asked the two. They both nodded. I stood guard as they got ready.
The ground rumbled. "Uh-oh. We gotta go." We got everyone and went up the stairs. Half-way up another rumble occurred. The walls began to ooze. "Faster!" I pushed. Once the walls oozed over completely we could be stuck here. We got to the door just in time. We got out and the walls here just started. "The blue door there is where Hazard is. Go to him." I told the others.
"But what about you?" Vade asked.
"I gotta go do something else. Go! There's no time to waste." I rushed them, he didn't like it but nodded.
I started running the way Hazard said was the Throne room. A race against the ooze. It's halfway down. I got to a point where the ooze stopped. It just didn't pass a point in the hallway. And at the end of it is the room I'm to go to. Another rumble and a roar I ran forward and kicked the door wide open. Two startled people turned to the broken doorway to see me. A woman, Talim, and her father. Another roar. I looked behind and there Seik was. But not pouncing, just waiting... At the point where the walls aren't oozed over. It paced the barrier on it's hind legs, looking hungrily at us three.
I turned back and dodged a huge weapon. Just to get kicked in the chest. I went on the defensive. Looking. I saw it. Plus something else. I smiled and emitted my cold aura. Their moves lessening in speed and effeciency. I made my move. I punched the closer one, the father, in the chest. And with my foot I tangled and held his left arm. I grabbed the bracelet he wore and snaked it off. Froze it and broke it against his head.
"NO! FATHER!" She screamed. Coming in. Something hit my head.
"Talim. Get him." Castor's voice shot through to us. Behind him the wall's hardened goo began melting. That was the bonus. But now it's gone array with Castor's unexpected appearance. "I set the destruction sequence, Talim get him and let's go. The castle is going to callapse on itself." He pleaded with her. Light-headed-ness went away.
Reacting first I grabbed Lyria and smashed her bracelet as well. She screamed again.
The connection should be broken. And this time Castor rushed in and grabbed Lyria. But before they left Seik pounded both of them into the far wall. I went to all fours and looked at my direction. I stood still. Like I did before on the ceiling. Something familiar about it. Then it rose it's snout and grunted. Small designs glowed over it's hardened scales. It looked back and ruffled the scales. I looked upon it, dumbfounded. It grunted again as the glowing design took color, cyan. And this time it rose its head and a fountian came out of it mouth. It all clicked together. Why it won't attack me.
"What happened to you?" I took a step closer.
"They transformed." Castor mumbled, trying to get up. "The way they were is no more. All of them are Seiks now."
"No." I shook my head. It couldn't be. Not this. "Selane... you killed Awol." Selane, the name of my Kurie...
It bowed it's head in apology. And adding to it, it pounced ontop of Castor. Then twitched its head at the doorway. Telling me to go. The bond, it remembers me. But only me, now its a killer. "Goodbye..." I walked backwards. Pity, confusion, and many more emotions welled up as I backed out the door. Once I was out Selane froze the doorframe and made an ice wall. I stood there and placed my hand on the ice. Sounds of fighting came from inside. I shook my head once more, "Thank you," and ran towards the blue doored room. The sounds of battle occurring in the room I just came from.
I got in Hazard's room and all were awake and filling each other in. I bursted in, "Now. We need to get out of here. The castle is going to collapse." I left the room as a bigger rumble came. The others following. On the stairs the building began falling apart. A rock fell. I saw it just as it fell behind us. Just as we got to the door. Something yelled and we were pushed all out onto the floor of the first floor. I got up and looked around. Eve was crying freely. Stuzzie is gone. A tear rolled down my face as Hazard pulled her up and we left the castle.
We went out the front door as the top floor fell down and it began its full collapse. A spray of dust and rubble rushed around. We stopped at a safe distance as we watched the castle fall. Deadra crying in Vade's embrace. Hazard holding Lyria as they watched, a tear trickled down her face to her chin. Eve bearing her face into her brother's shirt. Sobbing the loudest. I stood alone. I fell to my knees. The last of the fall happened. "Awol.... Stuzz... Selane... I'll miss you all." Tears ran freely down. Trickling then freezing as my body went cold.
