Oi, whats all this Arsenal slagging going on the minute I have my back turned? :P

If everyone faces the facts you will see Arsenal this season qualified top of their group in the Champions League with the best record by far out of all the British teams competing and are unbeaten at home all season so far. The only dent in their season is their (admittedly) poor away form, but with so many injuries that is hardly surprising.

The stuff people have been posting about Henry not being able to carry the team is complete rubbish. It is the ermergance of van Persie as a quality central striker that has allowed Henry to do precisely the opposite and enjoy playing his natural game cutting in from wide on the left.

Newcastle were taking the piss on sunday and Shearer should have walked immediately for a vary dangerous challenge that could easily have broken the arsenal guys leg on another day, but he's one of the premierships sacred cows who are percieved as always being innocent even though he's spent the last ten year elbowing defenders in the face.

Oh, and if anyone even thinks of suggesting Hargreaves as a possible arsenal target, they need shooting as he is Britains most overrated player by a long mile. What arsenal need is world class support for the defence and a genuine title winning keeper.

hey folks

well shame about Arsenal, hope they improve!

But what do you think of liverpool lately, they have done very well, 14 unbeatable games so far and 13 clean sheet for reina and they won the champions league and the super cup which opens a place for them in the FIFA world club championship and they are in the finals... against the previous world best club, Sao Paulo!

who do you think will win?
^_^ Liverpool!

Balls, Arsenal have drawn Real in the last 16 of the CL. Even though they are in poor form I think we're going to struggle unless we can improve markedly by the end of february.

Middlesbrough Vs Stuttgart.. Well...What to expect stuttgart finished 3rd in a easy group, Rapid Buchersti, Shaktar Donestk, Rennes and PAOK solinka and Middlesbrough topped a in some words a difficult group, Az,Litex,Dnipro and Grasshoppers i think if boro can hold them off in Germany we'll progress But if we do...we might have to play Roma from italy...

Arsenal's form in the CL can hardly be used as a barometer for how well they are doing - their group was so ridiculously easy. As for injuries, I'd be careful using that excuse if I was you, you're going to start sounding like Graeme Souness.

The stuff people have been posting about Henry not being able to carry the team is complete rubbish. It is the ermergance of van Persie as a quality central striker that has allowed Henry to do precisely the opposite and enjoy playing his natural game cutting in from wide on the left.[/b]
Van Persie has done okay, but without Henry there with him, he'd be lost and nowhere near as effective.

Newcastle were taking the piss on sunday and Shearer should have walked immediately for a vary dangerous challenge that could easily have broken the arsenal guys leg on another day, but he's one of the premierships sacred cows who are percieved as always being innocent even though he's spent the last ten year elbowing defenders in the face.[/b]

I'm amazed at some people's attitude towards Shearer. He's one of the most liked and respected players of his generation yet some people always seem to give him abuse. He has always been a physical player - taking as well as giving. It' a shame Arsenal players don't know how to take. I bet you didn't use to complain when the likes of Vieira, Adams, Dixon and Winterburn were kicking people up in the air.
Oh, and if anyone even thinks of suggesting Hargreaves as a possible arsenal target, they need shooting as he is Britains most overrated player by a long mile. What arsenal need is world class support for the defence and a genuine title winning keeper. [/b]
I agree with you on this point. Hargreaves should have opted to play for his native Canada instead of England, they are more his standard.

Just a word on the CL draw today. Out of the four British teams, I can only see Liverpool getting through.

Yeah I agree, I think Arsenal and Chlsea are going out.

The thing about Shearer is that its because he is so good he gets away with his dirty play. There is no doubt he is one of Englands greatest strikers and a good physical player to boot. There's nothing wrong with that, but the simple fact is he's still a dirty b******. If there's a chance to elbow a striker in the air, Shearer will take it, end of story.

You're right though, I am beginning to sound a bit like Souness with my injury moans, but we have been royally screwed by the loss of Clichy AND Cole (though I think Wenger should have bought better defensive coverage in the summer rather than Hleb).

If wenger doesn't buy a replacement of the same class of Viera, then he should just quit football.

Well Hleb is pretty good, but he isnt really the same sort of player at all and neither are any of the other midfielders he's got except Gilberto but thats not enough.

Also i think Arsenal are having a bad season next season they'll be champion contenders, its just they lost veira and some other players and are just learning to cope, They may never be the same but they'll be better

The same thing happened to Man Utd the day they sold David Beckham

yeah thats the thing, even though arsenal are having a crappy season atm, you have to remember that this loooks like being only the first season since Wenger took over in 1997 when Arsenal havent finished in the top two.

IF in 8 or 9 years you only once finish otut he top two you think everything is going to end

Middlesbrough before Mclaren took over had won nothing and their record best place was 9th in the premiership i mean we've only won 1 cup but he pulled us to 7th and got us european football also we look like we can win the carling cup again

Arsenal will be back to normal again next season and boro,Newcastle and every other team in the premiership except chelsea are screwed :P

Hopefully dude, that loss to Chelsea means we will be 'concentrating on Europe' for the rest of the season.

I hope Arsenal can overcome Real in the Champions League but I fear it will be another European damp squib for the Gunners. Sadly, I think Arsenal are terminal decline which is understandable - they are small club. The fact is they have always been a selling club rather than a buying club, they simply don't have the financial might of clubs like Chelsea and Man Utd or even teams like Liverpool or Newcastle.

Just a note on the West Ham-Newcastle match. We won but yet again we played poorly. Michael Owen was the difference. What a player this guy is becoming for us, an absolute bargain at £17m.

^Now that Owen is overcoming his injury, hopefully it will give newcastle some spark that they have needed for a long time, which he did on the weekend.

All you need now is to get rid of bramble and boumsong and you might be able to keep a clean-sheet every once in a while.

He is a world class player, and should have started at Real. He was just too much of a shy character to suit their "film-star football" tag.

The crowd loved him, and he was statistically the best striker in Europe for goals/minutes. You can't ask for much more.

^ Yeah, Titus Bramble must be the worst defender I have ever seen. The mistake he made that led to Solano's own goal was just laughable. As for Boumsong, I know he can do better. He's just going through a rough patch which isn't helped by having Bramble as his defensive partner.

EDIT: Newcastle have been linked with some attacking players recently, but what we need more than anything is a decent defender. It would be great if we can get players like Cassano and Joaquin but must a defender must be our priority.

when Owen is playing we dont need another striker to sit on the becnh but when he is away we miss him terribly/
Defenders would be good, altho with Carr coming back soon and Ramage and Taylor on form is it a left back we should be shopping for?

Ramage and Taylor are good players but I don't think we should be relying on them too much at the moment. They are young and inexperienced so they should be given the time to mature and develop slowly. We should be looking to get in a top quality centre-half in the meantime.

I'm getting really worried about Albert Luque, I hope he doesn't turn out to be the second-coming of Marcelino.
