Moving on from Julio Arca...
I've been thinking about doing some sort competition here on SEF for the forthcoming World Cup. I don't know whether it should be quiz-based or prediction-based - maybe even a mixture of both. I know people would be interested in taking part, even if they don't particularly like Football. I haven't decided on the structure or aything like that yet, so if you have any ideas...
As well as discussing the tournament in this thread, it would something else for people here to get their teeth into during the big event.
So what do you guys think?

Hey, Sounds great.
Just need to thank of ways to do it. Im sure if everyone here put their minds to it we could help you.
Perhaps you could do a quiz and to gain extra points predict the score of a upcoming match? You could do it in groups or alone and each group or member is assinged a different country taking part in the tournament?

Guess Match Scores and tally it up?
That sounds fun and a few people would participate.

I haven't thought about any of the logistics yet, but it's something that hopefully people will be interested in.

Perhaps we could do a fantasy football league or something? A simplified one of course.

That would be hard work.
Although i do like the idea. ^_^
Yes, I know Middlesbrough were well and truly outclassed by the Romanian giants, Hasselbaink didn't even look to know what he was doing. Yakubu was terrible. The only players at least trying. Where Schwarzer, Bates and Boateng.
Im not being biased towards Middlesbrough but Mark Schwarzer really is a amazing goalkeeper. The stops he made were World Class. With Schwarzer, Viduka and Kewell on their recent run. Aus just might go somewhere in this World Cup. ^_^

He's amazing at saving penaltys at vital times. The Game against Manchester City and the one against Uruguay which i watched extended highlights of. He saved the penalty there, Funny thing was Viduka their captain missed his penalty but is a good player for Aus.
Viduka on his day is a amazing player capable of shattering any defense. Trouble is catching him on that day. Im surprised you Aussies have kept faith in him. I know im one of a small majority on Teeside who did.
Theres simply nothing to say about Schwarzer other than 'World Class'.

Arsenal 1 - 1 Tottenham.
A fair result in retrospect. Should Spurs have put the ball out? No. Should Spurs have got a foul in the build-up to the Arsenal goal? 50/50.
It was a great game of football, why? Because Steve Bennett was a legend. I swear there were under 10 fouls given in the game. He let pretty much everything go. Reyes didn't even win a foul through his play acting, and I thought that was great.
Also, in the world of Football comedy. Lee Hendrie has been heavily linked to Ajax.

Chelsea 1 - 2 Liverpool. Deserved win, for the first hour, they were the better team, then as soon as Duff and Cole came on, thats when the Blues dominated. Garcia's goal was great, brilliant finish.
Tomorrow is Middlesbrough v West Ham......Boro can win if they're fired up enough for it, but they could suffer a UEFA Cup hangover. I'd still go for them because they've got more depth than West Ham, and just better players.
Thoughts?

Barcelona will probably win, but I don't think Milan will go down without a fight.

If Milan get at full strength they could pose some threats.
The only reason Milan didn't win was because of Gilardino decided to miss 3 shots that should of been scored.

Schwarzers injured my arse. Theres no way he broke his cheekbone. My Dad broke his cheekbone and was rushed straight to hospital and had metal plates inserted it his face. Schwarzer stayed for the game and was eating Chewwy. I think Mclaren was simply saving him for Thursday. I also don't believe the other Aussie Viduka was injured i think he was trying to rest him without the criticism.
Ac Milan are likley to belt out at them and i can see a 2-1 win for Milan forcing into penaltys upon which Barca will win.
Middlesbrough Vs Steaua, Pfft is there any point talking about it. We're out lets face reality. We're just a small team in Europe who are about to have their dreams shattered.

There can't be extra-time and penalties if Milan win 2-1. The only way that can happen is if Milan win 1-0.

I can see that match being a 0-0 draw. SB are very good defensively.

@Dam, how was funny he took a serious blow to the face cuasing him to fracture his cheekbone, Plus Dean Ashton then tried to kill Brad Jones to. -_-
Schwarzer has fractued his cheekbone and may miss the World Cup which his tragic news for Aus. Well Jewell, vidukas playing tonight hopefully and thats what the Steaua mangager said they are most afraid of. To tell you the truth i think everyones afriad of Mark Viduka he's huge.
About Arsenal Fenix Down must be ecstatic, And English clubs have won 11 of 12 total Champions league finals. They only team to lose one was Leeds.
Well Done also To Middlesbrough who are into the UEFA cup final. Fantastic game @Jewell Steaua don't concede many games, Except when Vidkua plays. ;)
