Yeah we signed Gallas in a £6m plus Cole deal. Seriously are Arsenal trying to say they feel that Gallas, given that Cole is one of the best left backs in the world, is worth in the region of £15-20m?!?! Load of rubbish if you ask me.

True we have got rid of Reyes in exchange for Julio Baptista. However, the deal isnt as sweet as it might be. a) I agree with hypnotiq, that with the exception of Gilberto Brazillians dont really thrive in the physical Premiership and B) the deal is just a season long loan swap with an option to buy. So effectively if Reyes still wants to join Real at the end of next season he will and if Baptista doesnt want to stay we could well be back in the same situation next summer.

I am surprised that Wenger with all his transfer nous didnt sell them right at the beginning of the transfer window for cash only and then spent the £40m ish we would have got for the pair on sorely needed players. As far as i can see all we have got out of this saga is a french defender we've had to pay through the nose for effectively and a guy on a season's loan who didnt want to come to us in the first place last summer.

The whole Gallas-Cole deal worked out well in the end and Arsenal fans should be pleased with what they've got. True, Gallas isn't worth £15-20m, but are you aren't seriously trying to tell me Cole is worth £25m, are you? Even taking into account the fact Cole is one of the best left-backs in the world, he is worth nowhere near as much £25m. So in effect, Arsenal have managed to get themselves one of the defenders in the Premiership for a miserly fee of around £5m-8m, plus a £6m pound pay-off. If you ask me, it all seems like good business.

And why are you pissing yourself over the Reyes deal? From what I can see, it couldn't have worked out any better for Arsenal. They've managed to off-load a player, who clearly didn't want to be there, for a quality Brazilian. Granted, Baptista did fail at Real, but that will only make him more hungry and determined, and isn't it Wenger's speciality to bring out the best in players like that? Even in the worst case scenario, if it doesn't work out for them, they can ditch him at the end of the season as they have only commited themselves to a loan deal, and buy someone else with money they'll get for Reyes.

Knowing Arsenal they willl be scouting right now for a replacement for baptista assuming he fails in the epl.

Same goes with Tevez, South americans really do struggle but lets see if they can break that curse.

Same with Shevshenko, he is poor for Chelsea epl, he doesn't go get the ball and create chances he only waits for passes and Drogba comes on as a sub and presents much more of a threat. 30million down the drain if you ask me. Should of just let Obi Mikel and Kalou run amuck.

I have a feeling he will excel in the champions league tho.

I doubt he will fail in the EPL, because he didn't really fail at Real. They just expected him to do a role he wasn't necessarily used to.

Wenger doesn't make bad signings really, every player he buys fits into his master plan somehow.

I'm not pissed that we got Gallas, especially now the collosus that is Pascal Cygan has left us for Villareal, nor that we've got rid of a player who didnt really want to be at Arsenal, I'm more pissed that Arsenal didnt take a stronger line with this and get rid of them at the start of the transfer window rather than wait till the eleventh hour and, to me at least, have terms of the deals dictated to them.

Anyone watching or watched channel 4 news about the company MSI who own a share in Tevez and Mascherano reportedly looking to take over the club. Very interesting.

They tried a while back but backed out and did you read/hear that MSI have a 10 year contract to control players from the Corithians?

Something like that anyway.

Man United has first choice at Mascherano and Chelsea look set to try and get Tevez when there contract is over.

Very Interesting Indeed.

All rumours at the moment but still good to chat about.

How long are their contracts at West Ham? And do West Ham actually own them? This is beginning to look not like the bargain deal it originally appeared as.

Thanks for that dude! :P

Hellos go in Seventh Heaven by the way, unless you have an opinion on what the hell West Ham are doing with Tevez and Mascara?!

I can't see to find that out, it seems everything is confidential but it is heard that it was a discount price for West Ham as MSI are going to try and take over West Ham.

Yeah I have found it pretty hard to find any real information on these transfers other than that they are on personal contracts.

One thing of interest that I did find out about MSI though was Roman Abramovich supposedly owns 15% of the company.

Biggest lawl of the day from Steven Gerrard!

"Steven Gerrard believes that Peter Crouch has a terrific chance of becoming England's all-time record scorer."

Ok, lets check out Peter Crouch's 10 goals in 13 games.

1 vs Uruguay (Friendly)
1 vs Hungary (Friendly)
3 vs Jamaica (Friendly)
1 vs Trinidad and Tobago (WC)
2 vs Greece (Friendly)
2 vs Andorra (Friendly)

So yea, huge credentials there. He has proved he can score against top opposition.

Haha for sure, did anyone see Defoe play and how did he go?

With Mido back he might need to head to a new club.

Defoe wasn't too bad, but to be honest I expected a couple more goals from England, after all Andorra are rubbish.

I agree with your comments about Crouch too Squire, he really hasnt proved himself in competative international football. Though he has still scored in friendlies against some reasonable teams. However if you discount the hat-trick against Jamaica and the two against Andorra as I really dont think it took a player of genuine international quality to score those then 5 goals in 11 games makes him look a lot more average.

Still you can only play against whats in front of you to drag out a classic footballing cliche!

Crouch we saw at the world cup did not really shine (not many of england really stood out).

He can't play anywhere else so i suppose his height is the only thing going for him, just he is one of the slowest players on the pitch.

The thing is I dont think he is even that good in the air, even his headed goal yesterday seemed clumsy. You're right about his slowness, I cant ever remember Crouch going on a surging run beating several defenders and then thrashing the ball past the keeper.

No Wait, he did score one goal where one-touched around the keeper.

Thats a fast as i have seen him move.

He just looks clumsy and if he had a great first touch off his head, the i wouldn't care about his slowness.

Yeah, I really don't understand why he is in the team, or tbh why he is at Liverpool. I accept that his height can cause defenders problems but that's literally all he's got.

With Bellamy Or Kuyt hopefully they can read crouch, but Crouch really isn't the deadly type linking up striker say like Saha/Rooney/Ronaldo.

Unless Crouch get's buff so he can make the robot dance look better.
