As far as usefulness in battle, the brothers are my favorites. Sabin's blitzes and Edgar's tools are great and usefull for the entire game. Esp. bumrush, air anchor, chainsaw, and the debilitator (I used that one frequently on bosses)
Storywise though, I like the ladies. Celes and Terra each have to come to terms with worlds they don't truly understand. Especially Terra, having trouble understanding simple emotions like love, fun, and humor.

Shadow is my favorite because I found him to be so intriguing. ^-^ Also, he's an assassin.

I'm stuck between Celes and Terra. They're both great characters and have a big part in the games plot. They are also complete opposites, Celes the strong independent General of the Empire and Terra the scared amnesiac soldier.
It's quite hard for me to choose between them, but I think if I was forced to, I would choose Terra.

Re: Favourite Character (6)
Locke is the man! Although I have to admit that Sabin is pretty badass too.

I'm going to have to go with Sabin. His Blitz techniques were always so useful.
Plus he's cool.

I like Sabin as a fighting character, but Setzer was the epitome of cool in FFVI.

Well yeah, if we're going personality wise.
Battle wise though, Sabin ftw.
