Amaru, there is a Beta game version for the Xbox 360, which is the full game and is restricted to one server (Hydra server). And when the game is fully realesed on the Xbox360 i assume you're given the option to migrate your character(s) to other servers.

Hmm, I'm not so sure about that. I was a European Beta tester for the PC version, and when it was actually released in Europe I had to start over again.

You mean, everyone who has been blitzing the game has to start over in the released version? That sucks...

I don't really know to be honest, that's just what happened to me.
Easy solution is, sell all your stuff and give the money to someone, then get it back when you restart. Given your experience you can reach the same level in 1/2 the time easily and people won't treat you like a n00b since you'll actually know what you're doing. :)
I got to level 40, then had to start again *shrugs*.
I heard that American Beta Testers got to migrate or something though, so like I said. I'm not really sure. :s

The commencement of official service for FINAL FANTASY XI on the Xbox 360 begins on April 20, 2006*, and so we must say farewell to the extremely popular beta test (ending at midnight PST on April 2, 2006).
As was previously mentioned in Topics, it will be possible to transfer characters from the beta server to an existing World. The procedure for transferring characters will be explained in an upcoming announcement.
SE just stated this on the FFXI site, hope it helps amaru

It looks like they just hated European Beta Testers for the PC then.

Squire got smoked. =p You turned out alright. I didn't know the euro was beating our dollar into the dirt so badly. I'm never going to England XD. That list above works well, also heard some good things about that site. If you can manage yourself into a good and helpful LS then you got a team you can count on. It would have taken me forever to get a sub job if it weren't for my LS. Nice to have maxed out guys beating up skeletons for you.
I didn't really follow things to a point. I liked talking to random people, its best to get maps ahead of time. I would run into them and then just buy their maps with my extra cash. Less of a drag later on.

Allakhazham is an okish website, it's mainly useful for reading peoples comments regarding things though. Their quest/mission guides are good, but their item info isn't all that easy to navigate.

okay I am ever so sorry if my question has already been answered, but I have had a little browse of FFXI site, and i can't find the monthly costs, i was going to buy the game, but I am unsure if I would be able to maintain the expenses. So I am unsure of the cost, and i was wondering if you would be able to supply me with the costs, i am in UK so if you could convert the dolars into pounds. That would be great.
Again I am sorry if my question has been answered i don't spend much time on the internet but I am trying, i try to get on often now. Which means, I won't be asking things which have already been supplied before.
I heard that it is 20 pounds a month with an extra 5 pound for each character you have in your possesion, so this would mean you could end up paying over 50 pounds a month, and on top of that you have to buy the game aswell. Is this true because my mate told me this he doesn't have internet, and he doesnt buy any magazines so i think what he has said has been created in his own mind. Are these figures correct, because at my age and my pay i wouldn't be able to afford that......

lol! you need to slap your friend!
I live in the UK too, and it's about 7 pound a month with 50p extra a month for additional characters.

How much people in Europe pay depends on exchange rates, but it's usually around £6.50-£7.00.
