RP Rules
(Following statement was done by MistaRob)
Seeing as we don't have these yet I thought it would be good to actually have a set of rules for the RP section even though the forum is still needing to be cleaned up a bit.
1. CHARACTER CREATION. No Godmodding: The first step for starting your RP's is to set up a bio-thread for you to list your characters. One important thing about creating a character is to make sure the character is BALANCED. I'm sure you would make a good half dragon-demigod-vampire but for the rest of the role players that is not fair. Keep it something that isn't horribly broken.
One more important rule for character creation is ORIGINALITY. It's your character so make it count. I know you like Cloud or Sephiroth but the story's been done. Try something new.
2. RP synopsis: Again ORIGINALITY is also crucial here. We don't need hundreds of stories of everyone going off to fight against SOLDIER/AVALANCHE. Like your character, it's your story so make it count. Once you have an idea of what kind of RP you want to do, write up a synopsis thread that gives a brief description of the story line. This will also act as your recruitment thread for others to sign up.
3: RP battles: Some RP's will have multiple people role playing at one time. Others will be one on one battles, the rule of character creation applies here aswell in that your character is not God, therefore, you cannot perform instant kills, nor can you take control of another player's character. This rule is mainly for one on one battles but it applies to all types of RPs.
4. Interpretation: With multiple people RPing at one time means you're not always going get what you expect. If someone posts something that you weren't planning on them posting. (example, *I cast my fire magic and my ally instead of aiding me, goes after another opponent.*) If something like this occurs, DON'T PANIC. You're role playing so use of the imagination is required. Plus learning how to adjust to a new situation is critical.
5. Respecting your fellow role players: Not everyone is going to Role play the same as you. treat all RPers with the same respect you would want to be treated with. People come on here to enjoy themselves and to express their creativity. Just because you may not agree with the way they Role Play doesn't mean you get to ruin it for them.
That about does it for the basics. I'll edit this more later with some more detail. Special thanks goes out to Akira Avelon and United Fleet for helping with the rules.

Okay.I know that Rob has the rules pretty well done Above. But it wouldn't hurt to bring in mine. These are a bit more indepth and I hope they help out as well.
DO NOT GOD MOD
This is pretty straight forward, don’t make your character so strong that it cannot be beaten, or give it a special force field or armour so strong that it cannot be penetrated. Your character can be strong and have special armour etc, but remember that realistically even the strongest armour has its weaknesses
FAIR FIGHTING
Fighting in stories can perhaps be one of the most complicated parts of the game, because everyone wants to win. However, as in every competition there will be a winner and there will be a loser. This role play world is designed to have two distinct sides, where not everyone gets along. This means that some characters might end up in a confrontational situation. When sparing or fighting, remember to give your role-play opponent a fair chance to counter your attack. Example:
*Johnny threw a dagger directly at Billy Bob?s heart killing him instantly upon impact.*
Instead.....give the other something to work with:
*Johnny threw a dagger directly at Billy Bob, hoping that his aim was true and that the dagger would pierce the black and evil heart of the demon who enslaved his true love.*
The trick when interacting, or taking action with/against another character is simple. Always leave them an out, and give the other person a fair chance to counter. By this same token, do not forget to be a good sport, and at take some hits. Either let this one character go, or work with the other poster to plan the outcome of a scenario.
READ
If you do not read what other people post, then there is no point in having a role playing game. It is one thing to post and play, but if you do not know what the other people are doing then it disrupts the continuity and flow. When this happens everyone becomes confused and uncertain as to where the story is going. In many cases other participant will become upset and frustrated. In short, if you are going to take the time to write and post, make sure you take the time to read as well.
GRAMMAR
This is self explanatory, if you cant spell, use a dictionary.
THREAD LEADERS
If you are playing a role-play where there is an official "thread leader"; this is fine. However, the thread leader is the one in control of the main plot and how they want their story to go. Please post according to the rules of their role-play, which means catering to what they want, plain and simple. If you have a serious problem with their rules, do not play. If you call the thread leader names because you don't like them, then you are just pathetic.
Thread leaders: Remember that things are often given to interpretation, and that people will not always see things the way you do. If you have a specific idea, that is fine. But do not get upset if someone envisioned something different. Thread leaders, no one is going to want to play with you, if you are too strict, with no room to be creative.
KEEP OOC POSTS TO A MINIMUM, OR IN AN OOC THREAD
Cluttering an RP with OOC posts is BAD. It means digging through stuff most people don't need to read in order to find the stuff that's relevant to them. This kills threads. If you must make an OOC comment in a thread, try and attach an IC (in character) post to it.
CHARACTER CONTROL
DO NOT control anyone elses character unless given explicit permission from said person. This includes, among other things, the following: moving, emotions, senses, speech, hits and misses (in battle), death.
WRITE YOURSELF OUT OF RPs.
If, for some reason, you are unable to finish an RP (school, vacation, whatever) it is considered courtious if you have your character exit the rp in some way. It is very frustrating for a character to suddenly dissappear for no reason durring an rp, especially halfway through, or even worse, nearing the climax.
OOC ISSUES
Keep OOC out of character and IC in character. Don't take things that happen in RPs personally, and, in contrast, don't bring issues from OOC into the RP. Such actions simply ruin the game, and it is a game, for everyone else involved.
READ BEFORE JOINING
If you do not read what other people post, then there is no point in having a role playing game. It is one thing to post and play, but if you do not know what the other people are doing then it disrupts the continuity and flow. When this happens everyone becomes confused and uncertain as to where the story is going. In many cases other participant will become upset and frustrated. In short, if you are going to take the time to write and post, make sure you take the time to read as well.
INTERPRETATION
Everything is given to interpretation. This means that someone may not post what you expect. Role-plays can have up to, and even more than 10 people playing, this means that there will be 10 or more different minds; and those10 or more people will have different reactions to that which their minds are reading. This means that the unexpected may occur. If this happens please use your imagination and work with your fellow role-players (unless that post is in direct violation to these rules, and it will be obvious if it is). In short: play nice.
RESPECT
Please respect all other role-players and their posts. If you cannot be civil, then do not post in on this board. If you or anyone else is having a serious problem, please come and talk to a moderator (once/if they get set-up) and they will have it straightened out.
ALL RPS MUST BE ORIGINAL.
In short, we cannot make anything in our rp a direct copy from a movie, novel, or anything that is Copyrighted. Firstly, this is to respect the work individual's creations. You would not like it if someone copied you, so do not copy them. Secondly, this is a liability issue. If a writer, director, producer, whoever were to see a thread such as this, the administrators could get sued. That is not a good thing.
So, please, if you have seen something and you wish to imitate it, you need to make it original enough that nobody could draw a direct line back to anything specific. I understand as much as everyone else that we like to play our heroes, and be like those who inspire us, but please, please, be original as well.
Please follow these rules, they are guidelines for everyone to have fun while RPing.
