Square Enix has just announced the appointment of Daishiro Okada, (formerly president and chief operating officer) to vice chairman of Square Enix, Inc. (Square North American branch). He will be replaced as president by John Yamamoto, who will also replace Yoichi Wada as chief executive officer for North America. Yamamoto is currently head of Square Enix, Ltd. (Square's European branch) and will continue to serve as their president and CEO, as well.
So what does this mean for Square Enix's North American division? Good things, hopefully. Nothing like a shuffling of leadership to spur new initiatives.
