Korean site Ruliweb has procured scans from Game Informer magazine showcasing Square Enix's newly-announced title, The Last Remnant.
The site states that the title will be on both PS3 and Xbox 360, with a planned release in Spring 2008, simultaneously in both Japan and North America.
Furthermore, GamesAreFun.com goes on to reveal that The Last Remnant is an entirely new franchise. There will be two playable characters (one to appeal to Western audiences, and one for a Japanese audience). Rush Sykes is an 18 year old sword wielding hero. The Conqueror is said to be shrouded in mystery with a dark and cruel demeanor.
The "Remnants" mentioned in the title seem to be objects, such as animals and weapons that contain great power. The battle system will resemble Legend of Dragoon, with QTE-style button pressing.
Four different races will be available in the game: humans, aquatic fish-beings, lizard humanoids, and feline humanoids. Hiroshi Takai will direct. He has previously worked on The Bouncer, SaGa Frontier, and Legend of Mana. The game will utilize the recently licensed Unreal 3 engine.
