Square Enix speaks out about their new shop

GamePro has posted an interview with a Square Enix representative asking questions about their soon-to-be-opened North American store.  The interview discusses Square Enix's plans to extend their merchandising for their games to a more global customer base.  North America, and eventually Europe, will finally be able to get their hands on the many rare items that have previously only been available in Japan (or from the many sites that kindly import them for those of us unfortunate enough not to live in Japan).

The SE rep mentioned that one of the differences between Japanese and American fans was that the Japanese tend to prefer the smaller merchandise, whereas Americans prefer larger items.  It is also mentioned that much of the larger merchandise we've been seeing of late was developed specifically targeting an American audience.

The new online store will feature not only the current collection of merchandise, such as the Advent Children figures and sculptures and FFIII mini figures, but also various exclusive items and weapons merchandise.

The store does not yet have an official grand opening date, but the site itself can be found here
